Weddings
Penguin Island is a unique location for your wedding ceremony. The grassed picnic area in front of the Discovery Centre is protected from the sea breeze and overlooks breathtaking coastal views of the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. After the ceremony your guests can enjoy an easy stroll along the network of timber boardwalks and lookouts that take in spectacular views from Pt Peron to Port Kennedy, while the natural beauty of the island provides the perfect backdrop for your bridal party photos. Rockingham Wild Encounters will ensure your guests arrive in comfort and safety and that your special day will be one to remember!
Points to Consider
- Open daily from September 15th until the long weekend in June, 9am to 4pm.
- The last return ferry from Penguin Island departs at 4pm.
- Our vessel has a maximum capacity of 75 passengers. Allow 15 minutes travel time for a round trip from Mersey Point to Penguin Island and back again for each load of guests. For example 90 guests and your bride arriving separately will require 3 round trips which will take 37.5 minutes.
- Penguin Island is an A class nature reserve- we ask that you take the well being of the environment and it's wildlife into account by ensuring that your guests are aware that there is no smoking permitted on the boats or Penguin Island. Littering including the throwing of confetti and rice is strictly prohibited.
- No power outlets are in place at any of the permitted ceremony sites, so no powered sound devices are allow. Battery operated sound devices and musical instruments are allowed with prior written permission, providing they do not offend other park users with excessive noise.
- There are no kiosk or barbeque facilities on the island but you are welcome to take eskies and picnic baskets. There are environmentally friendly composting toilets on the island and public toilets at Mersey Point on the mainland.
- All of our boats have wheelchair access and timber boardwalks on the island allow good disabled access from the landing jetty to the picnic area.
Our Recommendations
- Plan for your guests to be ferried to Penguin Island from 2.00pm (Depending on the size of your group).
- We suggest you hold the ceremony between 3.00- 3.15pm.
- Bridal party are welcome to take photos on the Island.
- All bridal party and guests must be off by the final departure time of 4pm

Group Size of 1 to 75 people- $850
Group Size of 76- 90 people- $1150
*All prices are GST inclusive and include a 7% marine park levy.
Bookings and Conditions
- Please download, complete and return our weddings enquiry form. Once we have received this from we will send you a Weddings Application Form from the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC). This form must be lodged direct with DEC and received at least three weeks prior to the planned ceremony.

Payment and Conditions
A 20% non refundable deposit is required to hold your booking for your Penguin Island Wedding. The balance of your payment is due 30 days prior to the date of your wedding. If the balance of payment is not finalised your booking date will be released.
